Qualification Process
The competition will be between 20 teams, an increase from the 16 teams in the 2022 tournament. Alongside the two hosting nations, the top eight teams from the previous World Cup 2023 earned automatic qualification, as did the subsequent two teams in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings. The remaining eight teams secured their spots through a regional qualification process. Teams participating in the T20 World Cup go through a qualification process, ensuring representation from different cricket-playing regions. Notably, Canada, Uganda, and the United States have qualified for the T20 World Cup for the first time in history.
Format
The 20 teams that qualify will be distributed into four groups of five each, and the top two teams from each group will progress to the Super 8 round. During this phase, the qualifying teams will be divided into two groups of four teams in each group. The top two teams from each group will secure a place in the knockout stage. The knockout stage will include two semi-finals and a final.
